Heather Langenkamp
Heather Langenkamp is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma and it was there that she took on her first professional roles in Francis Ford Coppola’s movies The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. Roles in television pilots, commercials, Movies of the Week and Afterschool Specials followed until 1984 when Heather was cast by director Wes Craven to play iconic teenager, Nancy Thompson, in the horror classic, A Nightmare on Elm Street. Her character of Nancy Thompson would return two times to the franchise - in 1989’s A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3 - Dream Warriors and in 1994’s Wes Craven’s New Nightmare. Her next big break came when she was cast to play Marie Lubbock in the spin-off of Growing Pains known as Just the Ten of Us. Part of ABC’s popular TGIF lineup, Just The Ten of Us was on the air for 49 episodes. In 1990, Heather married Special Effects Make-Up artist David Leroy Anderson in and the two began their family. Heather devoted herself to her two children but eventually joined David in supervising his Make Up FX shop, AFX Studio located in Van Nuys, CA. Over the past 25 years, AFX Studio has created the MUFX for Zac Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead, James Wan’s Silence, Ron Howard’s Cinderella Man, JJ Abrams Star Trek into Darkness and Drew Goddard’s Cabin in the Woods among others. In 2013, AFX Studio began 6 seasons on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse and 1984. As well as Scream Queens, Ratched, American Crime Story:Versace. Heather served as Executive Producer on the Award Winning Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy and produced, wrote and starred in the documentary film I AM NANCY directed by Arlene Marechal that discusses the role of Nancy Thompson in pop culture and asks the question “why Freddymania and not Nancymania?” Today Heather can be seen in Mike Flanagan’s 10 episode Netflix Series “The Midnight Club” based on the young adult novels of the same name. In it Heather plays the enigmatic Dr. Georgina Stanton as well as three other roles in the dramatic series: The Devil, Detective Black and Detective Fisher. Other movies streaming now are SyFy’s Truth or Dare, directed by Nick Simon and Portal directed by Dean Alioto. Heather is very proud of her voiceover work in Comedy Central’s “JJ Vuillard’s Fairy Tales- Rapunzel” and as Dazzle Feather in 2021 Paramount feature My Little Pony Heather is a frequent guest at horror conventions around the US and Europe and was a founding sponsor of The Women In Horror Film Festival located in Murietta, Georgia.
