Rue Sparks’ work is a Venn Diagram of visual and written media, and they live at the conjunction of queer, disabled, and neurodivergent identities. At times sassy and sarcastic, other times earnest and raw, no matter the genre, world, or plot, every piece is a mirror to the moment in time it was penned. Every story’s breath comes from the gut-achingly relatable characters navigating the same joys and losses we all experience, separated from us only by the imaginative and fantastical sandbox they wander.
They received a degree in Illustration & Interactive Design at Kendall College of Art & Design in 2010. They began working in-house with ad agencies while moonlighting as an adjunct professor of digital media, and pivoted to indie publishing in 2019 as an illustrator, graphic designer, and author.
