Michelle is an artist and illustrator based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Her works encompass various mediums and techniques, although she works primarily in watercolor and ink. Michelle graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a BFA in illustration, and is now an active member of a local artist collective, a group of artists who put on various shows and markets throughout western Michigan.
Michelle’s style is inspired by the feminine forms and organic lines of the Art Nouveau movement, as well as the story-driven subjects of myth and legend found in the art of the Pre-Raphaelites. Her subjects range from fantasy characters and creatures to mythological figures. She has been fascinated with fantasy, folklore, and legends her whole life, and the themes within these stories often creep into her artwork. Michelle is currently in the process of illustrating her own Tarot deck, as well as an anthology of works based on the Dungeons and Dragons game she plays with her friends. She can usually be found in her studio, working on at least 8 projects at any given time, or tending to her collection of houseplants.
