My name is Sol Vander Leek, I am a graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids (Decemeber, 2023), and I currently reside in the Village of Suttons Bay Michigan. I’ve spent my entire life drawing. When I was 13 or 14, I visited my first comic con in Traverse City. It was the first time I realized I could take my love of drawing seriously and share it with a wider audience. Comic-Con is the catalyst of my art degree and career as an illustrator. It is where I met two artists who got me into my dream school. Ever since then, I’ve been focusing on getting myself and my work to a bigger stage. From being published in Exposures art magazine throughout high school to more recently tabling at my first con at the Traverse City Comic Con, I’ve found joy in the creative and collaborative process of publishing my work.

Much of my art is created digitally on my iPad Pro. I enjoy investing several hours a day holed up in my office, drawing anything from a brand new sketch to my favorite character from a video game or movie. Currently, I’m drawn to the Spider-verse, Transformers, and Overwatch communities, often drawing fan work for myself and fellow enthusiasts. I spent several years in the content creator program for Genshin Impact, and currently run a successful freelance business selling my commissions and prints. My work focuses on vibrant colors, sharp shape-work, and form.
