A Cup of Cloudy

Carolyn Tantanella is a Metro Detroit native currently working from her home studio in Hillsdale,

Michigan. She uses watercolor and digital paint to create illustrations which become the designs

for woven jacquard tapestries and fine art prints. She spends much of her time in front of the

sewing machine. The relationship between painting and tapestry-making is on full display

wherever her woven art is shown.

Her work involves themes of inner exploration, afterlife, mysticism and childlike curiosity.

Inspired by sleeping dreams and children’s books, her style offers a melancholy comfort to the

viewer while inviting deeper introspection. She is the founder of A Cup of Cloudy, an art shop for

those who aim to soften the room.
