Studio 42 Designs is the brainchild of Alan and Nicole Klem. Dissatisfied by the cover options for his
favorite novel Alan decided to make himself a custom leather cover. The book? The Hitchhiker’s Guide
to the Galaxy. This inspired not only an entire business of leather-clad books, but the company name as
well. It wasn’t long before the business grew to include leather gaming accessories, magnets,
notebooks, dice bags, and more!
The Klems work out of their garage studio in Ohio, where they love to collaborate with other artists,
design new nerdy leather goods, and read way too many novels. They share their home with three
spoiled cat babies and several thousand books.
