D.R. “Solo” Perry has been a professional artist & animator since the age of 14 when he was hired as a t-shirt designer for a local screen printer.  Years later, after being HONORABLY discharged from the U.S. Army, he interned at a local Emmy Award winning animation studio working on such projects as Animaniacs, Batman The Animated Series, and others.  He’s done freelance work for Google, Upper Deck, Marvel & video game developers.   He started Ka-Pow!! The Comic Arts Academy in order to provide affordable high quality instruction in the Comic Arts for anyone seeking direction in the Comic craft.  

In Short, he created A REAL ART SCHOOL FOR REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL GOALS & REAL LIVES!! In conjunction with the school, Solo designed & created The Ka-Pow!! Power Prompt App (iOS & Android) for artists & writers desiring a convenient & challenges source of creative inspiration.  

In 2022 Solo is launching Access Comic Arts a non-profit aimed at introducing & educating young underprivileged people of color to the world of the ‘comic-arts’ (comics, animation, storyboarding, Concept art, etc.). All in an effort increase POC representation by fostering & developing young talented artists unaware of career opportunities in comics & the creative entertainment arts industries.
