My name is Michael Bolhuis. I am a freelance local artist/illustrator. I grew up in the Grand Rapids area, and now live on the north side of town. I attended Kendall College of Art and Design in downtown Grand Rapids, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in traditional illustration.
I enjoy painting in watercolor, acrylics, oils, and airbrush, but a nice pad of paper and some markers are fun as well. I am heavily influenced by artists like Frank Frazetta, Bob Peak, Drew Struzan and Bill Sienkiewicz to name a few. I love anything pop culture, and enjoy drawing or painting what I feel are some of the iconic characters and moments that populate it.
