Shawn is an award winning wildlife and fantasy illustrator creating detailed depictions of animals melded with flora and fungi in symbiotic relationships alluding to natural processes of decomposition, regrowth, renewal, and symbiotic relationships as a response to imbalances in human relationships. She explores her biracial Chinese American heritage in her Chinese Zodiac series. Shawn is a self taught artist with her illustration work primarily created with mechanical pencil, and ink. Her work is featured in galleries, food and beverage packaging,
and most prominently in her nationwide tours of comic and anime conventions where she connects with fans and private collectors.
She is a 2023, and 2018 Chesley Award Finalist, received a 3rd place award inInfected by Art 2018, Best in Media at the Carmel Arts International Arts Festival 2021. Best in show at the DuPage Art League in 2018, received an honorable mention in the statewide Indiana Artist Network show Pairs, and was a semi-finalist in a Disney/Pixar sponsored contest on Deviantart in 2015. Her work is published in the art annuals Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art v. 26 and Infected By Art v.s 6-12. She was an active contributor to EveryDayOriginal.com ’s roster from 2019-2023. Exhibited with Quirky Fox Gallery in New Zealand, WOWxWOW in the United Kingdom, and Arch Enemy Arts in Philadelphia. Her illustration was featured in Beautiful Bizarre’s expose on Every Day Original in 2020, and was a featured guest of Art on the Air a podcast of NPR’s Lakeshore Public Radio in August 2021.
