One Sleepy Beetle

Hailee Smith is an illustrator and animator from Indianapolis. They have always drawn inspiration from fantasy, science fiction, animated films, comics, anime, and tabletop RPGs. Most of their childhood was spent with their nose in a graphic novel, or imagining worlds of their own. In 2020 they graduated from the Herron School of Art and Design with a degree in Drawing & Illustration and a minor in Art History.

Smith’s work ranges a wide span of different mediums and takes inspiration from many different styles. During their college days, they fell in love with laser engraving, which became a main focus in their work. Smith’s “sculptural illustrations” give their original work a “2.5D” effect, blurring the line between 2D illustrations and 3D sculpture. In addition to pursuing their personal work, Smith also has illustrated for a number of published TTRPGs, including My Mother’s Kitchen, Broken Heart of the Castle, and Sleeping Heart of the Garden.
