Joan of Bark Art & Design LLC

ARTIST ALLEY BOOTH B-8

My name is Danielle Gravelle, the artist behind Joan of Bark Art & Design LLC – a business that sells whimsical fantasy merch. My products include art prints, stickers, stationery, zipper pouches, tote bags, charms, and more. My goal is to create art that makes the viewer feel two things: wonder and happiness. How do I do this? By creating art with a story hidden inside—the kind that sparks the viewer’s imagination and invites them to step into the illustration. And by drawing the cutest and most charming characters I can imagine. (Who can help smiling at a toad proudly wearing a fancy pink dress?) When I see the expressions of delight and wonder that come over people’s faces when they visit my table, I know I have

achieved my goal.

Though my business is relatively new (started 2023), I have been creating art since childhood, working with many mediums like ink/markers, acrylics, and gouache, as well as digital drawing programs like Procreate, Photoshop, and Illustrator. My background in fine art, formal training in graphic design, and love of anime and all things cute come together to create a unique visual style. I blend heavy brushstrokes and a hazy, Impressionistic quality with the modern appeal of kawaii anime characters. If I had to describe my art with three words they would be fantasy, nature, and cuteness. Two of my biggest art inspirations are the rich, detailed worlds of Studio Ghibli, and the cozy charm of Beatrix Potter. My past conventions/artist markets include Really Cool Comic Con (2023), L.A. Cafe Holiday Market (2023), Timeless Treasures Spring Market (2024), and the Detroit Retro Gaming Show (2024). Additionally, I am booked for JAFAX (2024), Animate Columbus (2024), and GalaxyCon Columbus (2024).
