My art began as all art usually does, a hobby, a place to find joy amidst the madness of
the world. As I began to experience more and more burn out in my career as a vet tech,
I found myself painting more frequently and wanting to share it with the world. So, I
began painting pet portraits. Here I learned that I love to spread joy with my art and I
wanted to explore a more imaginative and slightly surreal side of my creativity. After
three years of continued exploration, I am excited to say that Abigail Emmert Art is now
built on a foundation of spreading joy through a whimsical wonderland of my characters
that are cute and a little bit odd.
My creative process involves a lot of sketching and writing to learn the stories of my
characters. My preferred medium is oil paint, but I enjoy dabbling in digital art for my
stickers and some watercolor and gouache when sketching and practicing. I have also
been inspired to create handmade plushies of my original characters to bring them to
Life.
